Google is now rolling out Android 13 to Pixel phones. Other Android devices like Samsung, Motorola, and OnePlus could all get the latest version of the operating system update sometime later this year. New features are coming with Android 13 to Pixel phones. Here are the details about Google’s Android 13 for Pixel phones.
Android 13 has arrived on Google Pixel phones
Google introduced Android 13 in early February, and it has been in preview for almost six months. Today, the company announced that Android 13 is now available for all Pixel phones, about a month earlier than usual and anticipated. That means you can now update your Pixel device to the latest Android version.
However, there is an issue with the update. When you update your Pixel 6 series devices, you won’t be able to return from Android 13 to 12. These series come with the Google Tensor chip, and it is impossible to flash back to Android 13 because of a bootloader update. Google explained it in a notice on the developer website.
“Warning: The Android 13 update for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and the Pixel 6a contains a bootloader update that increments the anti-rollback version. After flashing an Android 13 build on these devices, you will not be able to flash older Android 12 builds.” You can now unenroll on the beta site if you are a beta tester for Android 13. When you stay in the beta group, you will get the test build of the future versions of Android 13.
What’s coming in Android 13?
Android 13 has an evolved look and style that builds on Material You. You can change non-Google apps’ icons to see the match between your phone’s wallpaper theme and colours. The new version also has an updated media player with new features. You can choose the media library for your apps when they need to access it. According to Google’s blog, Android 13 will also launch later this year to Samsung Galaxy, Asus, HMD (Nokia phones), iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi, and more.
How to install Android 13?
You can now install Android 13 if you have one of the devices, Pixel 4 and 4 XL, Pixel 4a and 4a (5G), Pixel 5 and 5a, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a. If you want to install it, here is how to update it.
The easiest way to update your phone to Android 13 is to use the system’s built-in update tool.
- Open the Settings on your device.
- Choose System,
- Tap the System Update button,
- Press of the “Check for Update” button
It will start downloading the update automatically. It can take some time like a few hours because the device installs the update in the background while your phone is still on and applied with a later reboot.
